Established in Portland, Oregon in the year 1943, the Cascade Manufacturing Company started as a small machine shop hiring just 4 individuals. Overall sales for that year totaled 60 thousand dollars. The first recorded sales revenues involved the machining and assembly of stainless steel pipe fittings, valves and other components. During 5 years of operation, the company had stretched to 40 employees and their annual sales volume had risen to 330 thousand dollars. Nowadays, Cascade is among the top worldwide producers within the material handling business.

Production and design of the company's initial hydraulic cylinder paved the way in Cascade's aggressive pursuit of better business opportunities. Over the last sixty years, the material handling trade has grown into a highly complex area and Cascade has proudly played a part in this progress. Cascade at the moment continues to grow as the premier supplier of lift truck accessories and numerous associated products. In the nineteen fifties, Cascade began designing, making and advertising hydraulic accessories. The company changed its name to Cascade Corporation in the year 1964. In 1965, Cascade went public with a preliminary offering of 200,000 shares of common stock. The business has expanded its production plants within the U.S. with areas in Warner Robins, Georgia, Portland, Oregon and Springfield, Ohio. Cascade products are fabricated globally because of numerous subsidiary operations. In 1994, a new plant was completed in Almere, the Netherlands which is Cascade's European control center. This plant is made to be the ultimate customer service centre.

Cascade further expanded their product base in 1996 and 1997 subsequent to buying 5 companies, which included the Kenhar Corporation, the global best in blades.
